LT GEN Pradeep Chandran Nair pays homage to Martyrs

Remembering the heroes of Assam Rifles, DG-AR, Lt. Gen. Pradeep Chandra Nair, AVSM, YSM paid homage to Martyrs at Assam Rifles War Memorial on 8th June 2021 in Laitkor, Shillong. He laid the wreath to pay homage to the Martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

Popularly known as Sentinels of the North-East, Assam Rifles is the oldest paramilitary force of India and provides security to the north-eastern region of the country. The force is also involved in the welfare activities and social development of the people.

The General Officer laid his first wreath after taking over the prestigious appointment of Director General of the Assam Rifles.

Lt. Gen. Nair took the charge of DGAR on 1st June 2021 and is the 21st DG of Assam Rifles. Earlier, he was the Director General Recruiting in the Indian Army, responsible for the recruitment of officers and jawans. Lt. Gen. Nair has a rich experience with Assam Rifles and the Northeast, having been an Inspector General and also Company Commander in Assam Rifles (AR) and commanding AR battalions as a Brigade Commander. He was decorated with the AtiVishisht Seva Medal during his command as the Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) in Nagaland, Yudh Seva Medal during his command of a Brigade in Manipur and the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card on three occasions.
