Video Production refers to the process of producing video content digitally captured through a video camera. It is not as easy as it seems to be. A video goes through various processes before reaching us. Mainly, it comprises of three stages, namely – Pre-production, Production and Post Production. 

Pre-Production involves conceptualization and planning of the whole video project i.e. generation of an idea, its scripting, dialogue writing, casting, screenplay, etc. Production is the execution stage of pre-production where the video is filmed with real actors portraying their respective characters on real locations. The director, being the captain of the project, put all his efforts in presenting the video in the best creative way he can. Then the video enters its final stage of Post-production. In layman’s terms, it is the ‘polishing’ phase of the whole video shoot where the final outlook of the video is created through editing. These are the basic stages of every video production. 

A video can be categorized into fiction and non-fiction depending upon its treatment. Fiction takes birth out of a writer’s imagination. It involves an imaginary story, concept, and characters, whereas non-fiction is strictly based on true events and people. So, whether you are making a fiction or non-fiction, the basic steps or stages will be the same.
