Smt. Chandro Tomar, famously known as Shooter Dadi left for the heavenly abode on 30^th April 2021. Her sister-in-law Prakashi Tomar broke the news on Twitter via post. Chandro Tomar was diagnosed Covid positive and was admitted in a hospital in Meerut on April 26^th, after she complained of breathing problem. Shooter Dadi died of brain hemorrhage. The 89 year old shooter was one of the oldest sharpshooters of the world. Shooter Dadi was an inspiration to womanhood and always embraced women empowerment with her deeds. Very often, she used to share her story of courage and revolution on different platforms of Television & Stage.

A film titled “Saandh Ki Aankh” was also produced on the real life story of Chandro & Prakashi Tomar. Hailing from a village Johari in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, Chandro Tomar along with her sister-in-law Prakashi Tomar picked up shooting in her 60’s. The duo went on to win many medals in different shooting competitions which brought them the title “Shooter Dadis”. Both of them are an inspiration to a lot of girls and women in the society with the true meaning of women empowerment. Undoubtedly, Shooter Dadi changed the perspective of the male dominated society where females are considered weak and helpless without any support of male companion.

Actors Bhumi Pednekar and Tapsee Pannu who played the characters of Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar respectively in the film ‘Saand Ki Aankh”, paid tribute to her through their Twitter accounts. Apart from other personalities including Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, Paralympian Deepa Malik, Anchor & Performer Shilpa Bhawana also condoled her death.
