Assam Rifles Cadre Soldier (now Gentleman Cadet at OTA Gaya), Academy Cadet Adjudant Gurumayum Kennedy Sharma made a mark during pre-commissioning training in Officers Training Academy (OTA) Gaya.
On the occasion of Commandants Awards Ceremony held at OTA Gaya on 10 June, Cadet Adjudant Gurumayum Kennedy Sharma was adjudged best in overall performance winning a total of seven medals and three trophies.
The awards included medals & trophies for being first in the order of merit in SCO Course -46, best in Firing, best in Battle Obstacle Course (BOC), best in Academics, best in Service Subjects, best in Tactics, and a Medal & Bayonet Pin for being best in Weapon Training.

OTA Gaya is a premier Pre-Commission Training Academy (PCTA) of the Indian Army and is equipped with state of the art training facilities. The Pre-Commission training includes the Basic Military Training i.e. development of intellectual, physical and moral qualities essential in building the leaders of tomorrow. It aims at the overall development and transforming a person from civilian to a soldier.
ACA Gurumayum Kennedy Sharma hails from MamangLeikai Village of Thoubal District in Manipur. Manipur is state in the north-eastern India, with the city of Imphal as its capital. The word “Manipur” is made-up of two Sanskrit words “मणि”(Maṇi), which means jewel and “पुर”(Purǝ), which means land/place/abode, Manipur is translated as “Jewelled land”. Undoubtedly, the Land has given one more Jewel to our Country decorated as a Hard Core Soldier into Assam Riffles.
Recently, Assam Rifles also welcomed Lt. Gen. Pradeep Chandra Nair, AVSM, YSM, as the new DG on 1st June 2021. He is the 21st DG of Assam Rifles. Popularly known as Sentinels of the North-East, Assam Rifles is the oldest paramilitary force of India and provides security to the north-eastern region of the country. The force is also involved in the welfare activities and social development of the people.
